EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) is a chip inside your vehicle's ECU or body control module that stores the cryptographic key data — including which transponders are authorized to start the vehicle.
In some vehicles — especially older Acuras and Toyotas — conventional OBD-port programming simply isn't possible. Whether the system is locked, keys are fully lost, or the ECU has been replaced, the only solution is direct EEPROM chip access.
